December 5 After coming back from California for the Thanksgiving holiday, and finally bringing back Charlie home with me, I was finally getting a chance to see what Billie Boo would do when confronted with the sad reality that I was already a kept human. I took Charlie for a walk about the apartment complex and came across Billie Boo. The first encounter and already Billy Boo was already drawing back realizing that there was a new furred friend through into our Feline Human friendship. Charlie was a bit weary of her since he has been burned by Feline Canine friendships. Most ending in him getting the bad end of the stick. Still I wanted this friendship to work. Ancient Water Town of Zhujiajiao

Nearly 26 miles away from Shanghai is a small city called Zhujiajiao. (It's pronounced j ew jeeah jee-ah-ow)  This lovely little water town is similar to one of my favorite cities in China, Suzhou. I wrote a post about that place that can be read here if you're interested. How did I even get here? The vast subway system makes it quite affordable to move from one side of town to the another. So from my hotel, I took a couple lines down and got off on line 8 on the stop called Dashijie. Upon exiting and just around the corner from the little park across the street from the metro stop, there's a the bus station that takes passengers from Downtown Shanghai all the way to the ancient city of Zhujiajiao. How much did this cost? A one way trip to this lovely water town cost only 12 yuan which is nearly two dollars. Super cheap! Supermarkets in Taizhou

It's relatively easy to say that supermarket in China are just like the ones in the U.S. Heck, I've been to supermarkets in Mexico AND France and its pretty much the same thing there too. While there are a few differences here and there, the basics are still there. Imported produce and also pricier. You go in, find what you need, buy it, leave. Of course 95% of the things that they carry are China brands. They do have things from other countries like Pocky from Japan, and American candies like M&M's, and even Ferrero Rocher and it's expensive. I doubt anyone buys it. The vegetables here are cheap. Most are locally grown and are sold straight from the harvester to the Supermarket. One of the differences about supermarkets here is that no food ever gets thrown out. It may have mold or lost some leaves, or old, but it will get sold...at a lower price too. People actually look out for these old "clearance" produce especially the older generatio...
